Room makeover- finally!!

I decided that our bedroom needed a serious makeover when I started to close the door to the room everytime someone came over. It looked just as "26 year old guy" as it did when Matt and I first met. I ordered furniture back in February but it didn't get here until about 3 weeks ago. I also got a new duvet cover, sheets, area rug, and curtains. Matt's co-worker, Kira, helped out by putting our room into a design program to see the layout and what everyone would like like in it and even suggested the colors, ets. Thanks Kira!!

Here are before and after pics of the room.

For dramatic effect (after the furniture got here and we moved a bunch of things around- our room does NOT usually look like this):

5 months!

First, let me say thanks to all those who gave advice about introducing new foods. We go to the doctor on Friday so I'm going to make sure it's OK with her and then start introducing greens. Also, we went to a wedding last night and I was talking to one of my co-workers. She said she makes her own baby food and it's very easy....I might dabble in that a little bit too.

So, the boys are 5 months old today! It seems like they have been here forever and that they just got here all at the same time. The day they were born was a beautiful fall day and everyone was looking forward to Thanksgiving. Matt said the night before that he 100% expected to get a call from Jamie in the middle of the night saying it was time. He was close...she called us at 5:30am to tell us that her water broke. I called my parents first and told them "the babies are here!!" meaning to say "the babies are coming!" and it scared my mom half to death thinking she slept through the birth of her first grand kids! Ahhhh, it was such a wonderful day- I love reminiscencing about it :)

My big Sam:

Ben "I'm HOW old?!!"

"Oh, thank goodness, I thought you said 6 months!" (this pic was taken mid-raspberry, which is now one of his favorite things to do)

Brotherly love:

Ben is getting interested in the camera:

Also, when we came home tonight from getting some ice cream Maggie had eaten almost all of an 8 oz can of formula. I"m really worried about her :( Prayers and good thoughts please that she will be fine!

Go Ducks!

My Aunt Nancy brought these onesies back for the boys when she want to visit my cousin, Nick, in Oregon. Thanks Aunt Nancy- they are adorable...and Matt thinks they are really cool too :)

Holding hands...

Biting has become one of their favorite things to do when laying by each other:
Also, I have a question for all you seasoned moms out there. How soon did you introduce other kinds of baby food once you started the rice cereal? Sam hates it and will barely eat it and I want to move on and try new flavors to see if he will eat those.

Thanks!

Hide and Seek

Mom- don't get mad at me for only having pictures of Sam in this post.

Sam was funny the other day. He kept hiding behind the toys in his jumperoo and then popping up and smiling.

Rice cereal debacle

We fed the boys rice cereal last night for the first time. I think we waited a little too long and they were pretty tired and hungry so they didn't do great on it. Ben, actually did pretty well and took about 10 bites. Sam cried and let it pool in his mouth until I shoveled it out with the spoon.

Ben's attitude towards the cereal:

Sam's attitude:

On a positive note...they both slept through the night for the first time in about a month!

Listening to the gee-tar

Matt's b-day present this year was a guitar that he got to play songs for the boys. So far, the boys know "Every Rose Has it's Throne" and a few chords to a song that I know but I can't think of the name. Matt is really good about looking up how to play songs and then giving it his best college try though. The boys also seem to really like it. It quiets them down if they are being fussy and it makes Matt feel cool - so it has been a nice addition to all the boys toys.

Here is a picture of the first time Matt played for them. They were laying on the bed holding hands- it was so cute!

Hope you all have a very nice weekend!

Cattywompus face

Sam is soooo funny when he starts to cry. He looks a little like those pictures of old men when they taste something sour. Here is a pretty good example of it. Even though he is mad - we always laugh at him, which makes him even more mad:
Here is a picture of Ben where I think he looks a lot like Matt:

Hangin with Charlie

The boys and I went over my friend Jamie's house for a playdate with her son Charlie. He is 18 months and sooooo cute! He was very good with the boys and gave them lots of attention, which Ben especially loved! Jamie and I caught up and ate pizza and brownies most of the time because Charlie was taking a long nap. Sam and Ben also got a snooze in there too.

Here are some pics of the boys.

Charlie: "What are you laughing at, man?"
Sam: "Hee hee, I tooted!"

Charlie: "Ah, Ben man, not you too!"
Ben: "Sorry, dude!"

Ben and Sam: "Oh Charlie, no you di-int!"
Charlie: "Ha ha heeeeeeeee!"

Fishin' shirt and the truck

Matt's dad and his buddies have been going to Lilley's landing in Branson, MO for 35 years for a January fishing trip. Yes, taking the boat out to fish in January! Matt and his brother-in-law's also go now. Grandpa got the boys these cute little shirts this year on the trip!

Close up:

This weekend Matt borrowed a truck from his work and Sam thought it was a beauty.

He had a couple beer in the bed:

After handling that big ol' truck Sam thought he was cool and gave us some 'tude. "You talkin' to me?!":

Sam sleeping....me, not sleeping

Sam has been scaring the you know what out of me lately because he has started to roll over and sleep on his stomach (I can't remember if I already posted that or not). Anyway, I hate it and check on him a million times a night and have not been sleep well for about a week now because of it. To make matters worst he plants his face straight down on the bed! I have accepted the fact he is going to sleep on his tummy but I have not given up my quest to turn his head several times each night to the side. I have been reassured by many people (thanks Mary, Pooky, Tracy and both Jamie's) including my doctor too that this is ok.....but it still worries both me and Matt (mostly me).

Sometimes Sam sleep on his side and I wish he would just stay that way. Not only does it not seem so dangerous but he looks so darn cute doing it! He reminds me of a little lima bean.

This is a picture of Ben being fussy and I just had to stop and take a picture and giggle at him. I tried to get more of his legs but I only got a little. Here is this little man, standing on me, crying, and his legs just look so short but sturdy and fat-rolls as far as the eye can see! Me laughing at him just made matters worse:

I really enjoyed staying home with the boys this week. We had a play date with Aunt Jamie, my sister came over and ran errands with me, the boys got into somewhat of a nap schedule, and we went on lots of walks. They are also laughing a lot more, and talking up a storm (Ben is quite the story teller!), playing and responding to us. It's so much fun!

Best friends

The boys have been paying a lot of attention to Maggie lately and she has been checking them out too. Here are some pics of Ben and Maggie doing the "who are you?" dance yesterday (with Sam napping in the background):

Matt set up the exersaucer and jumperoo for the boys. They love it- espeically Sam! Ben loves it at first but gets overly excited and starts to fuss.

Here is Sam in it while Matt was in the middle of putting it together. He just couldn't wait!

Hoppy Easter!

I just had to do it. I had to put "Hoppy" Easter in there!! I couldn't resist!

They boys had a fantastic first Easter. We went to church with Matt's family. The boys didn't have such a fantastic time at church though. They pretty much cried the entire time and I was up and down until I just gave up and stood in the back the entire time with Ben. Matt made it to the "Our Father" before he was in back the rest of the time with Sam. They are usually pretty good at church so I'm not sure what was wrong. Then we went to my Aunt Linda and Uncle Dave's house. We had a rough and tumble Easter egg hung for the adults. My bag got ripped open by my cousin and I lost all my eggs! Then, I got another bag and got some more eggs and they tried to tackle me so I threw- no, slung- my bag, hoping Matt would catch it and save my newly gathered eggs. He didn't and the rest of the those vultures stole my remaining eggs. All I was left with was half a plastic egg and two small tootsie rolls. There were about 150 eggs filled with candy and prizes in the hunt to give you perspective of my sad situation. After that we went back to Matt's parents house and had dessert and visited.

I bought some SUPER cute outfits for the boys about 1 1/2 months ago and Matt says that is all I have been talking about ever since. Well, actually worrying about. I was worried it would be too cold for short sleeves and short overalls. But, it was perfect weather!

Cute little Elmo Easter baskets from Grandma Bleything. Sam's the one on the right this time with his big gut hanging out. I squeezed them into these 0-3 month outfits yesterday and they are being retired today. Ben is making the funny turtle face again!
Have a great week everyone!
