Reading rainbow

The boys have just started looking at books on their own and "reading" them. Its so cute to see their interpretation and also to see what they focus on when we read the books to them. These videos are from a rare occasion when they actually sat next to each other to look at the book and not to steal it away from the other one.

They are just getting so big!

On an unrelated note, please say a prayer for Ben. I had to take him to urgent care tonight because he woke up from his nap with blood in his ear. The doctor thought it was his tube coming out and cut the ear. We aren't so sure about that though. We are treating it with drops they gave us when he got his tubes but prayers that it's nothing else are always appreciated!

Park time

Ben and Sam have been park-a-holics lately! On the other hand, I have a love/hate relationship with the park. I love that they have such a great time and get their energy out. However, I hate that they are climbing all over the place, meaning places that are dangerous and I can't be two places at once. They are getting pretty good at it so that helps a little.

Last week was beautiful- 70's, sunny- we went to the park everyday! This week has been gross- 60's (still good for March) and very rainy. Because we haven't been able to get outside they have been cranky and hard on me. It cleared up for a few hours today so we booked it straight for the park as soon as we got home from other outings. I guess everyone else thought the jungle gym would be wet (it wasn't) so we were the only ones there.

Here is Sam on the slide:

Aren't small hats propped on the side of your head in-style? I'm pretty sure Christina Aguilera wore one on the battle rounds of The Voice:

I still have a life??

Turns out that I do! Thanks to my parents, Matt's parents, and Matt for watching my boys so I can still get out and do fun things. I seriously don't know what we'd do without the grandparents in town.

Lately, I've been either getting away by myself and Matt and I have even gotten to do stuff with each other.

In late January, Matt and I went to Arizona for a conference where Matt was presenting. He also attended the conference everyday of the trip so I had a lot of time to relax by the pool and read the Hunger Games series, which I am obsessed. A highlight of the trip was getting to hang out with my Aunt Mary Lou and Uncle Morgan, who live there. We went geocaching and they took me to Nordstroms Last Chance, which is a deep discounted Nordstroms. I got a dress for $2 and one for $3 if that tells you anything. We also got to see my cousins and there kids so that was great too! Matt and I went to a couple of dinners and night and relaxed sans kids. I loved getting away with him :)

Me geocaching:

A week after we got back from Phoenix, I took a trip by myself to visit my best freinds in Denver. It was a nice, relaxing trip just hanging with the girls. We went to yummy dinners, had a Brunch at BK's house, and went to Ikea, which I've never been. It was a perfect getaway.

Last night we had our Kansas City Dinner Club. Whenever our Denver friends are in town we go to dinner at a new restaurant. It seems like someone is always in town so I am always getting to try out a new place. Luckily, the other KC member of the dinner club writes for The Pitch so she knows all the hip places, otherwise, we would be going to Jose Peppers and Houlihans, which is the extent of my KC restaurant knowledge. I love the tradition of this dinner club and hope it continues for many, many years.

I've got lots of other things to look forward to as well....girls trip to San Diego and a good friends wedding in New Mexico.

Still my favorite thing to do.....just my day to day life with the boys!

Gift

PTonight while we were putting the boys to bed I told Ben he was my greatest gift from God. He said , "I'm not a gift, I'm a boy". I love that boy!
