Big boys eating big boy food!

We have been experimenting with giving the boys baby food for the past month. At first they didn't really eat it and pushed most of it out of their mouths- mostly the rice cereal. Since then we've given them oatmeal cereal, green beans, peas, and sweet potatoes. They seem to like all of those a lot, lot better especially Sam and the sweet potatoes. Thanks to some smart cookies - Katie, Julie and Meghan- I am now making my own baby food! Thanks girls! I really enjoy it and a little bit of people food makes a lot of baby food. We bought 2 large sweet potatoes at the store and it made enough for 2 weeks worth of food for them (not that we would give them sweet potatoes for 2 weeks straight). The only things was the green beans seemed like a lot more work than what we got out of it. But still, it's all very cost effective and I feel good knowing exactly what my boys are eating. I"m going to make a trip to Whole Foods to to buy all organic fruits and veggies.

Anyways, it's really easy. Basically I just steam the veggies and then cut them up and put them in the Magic Bullet with a little bit of the water from the pan I steamed them in. That purees them to the consistency I like. Then I pour that into ice cube trays and freeze overnight. The next day I pop out the food "cubes" and put them in a ziplock bag and store in the freezer. When it's time to eat I just take a cube out for each boy and defrost in the microwave for about 3 minutes. I know it seems simple but it took me asking the girls listed above lots of questions to even start the process. If anyone else has any tricks of the trade I would be happy to hear them!

Here are some pics of them enjoying their new found tastes:
