Oh, what a difference a year makes!

One year ago today we were nervously sitting in the waiting room of the doctors office counting down the minutes to our first ultrasound. I had red blotches all over my chest and neck from nerves, this has never happened to me before but it did happen at every ultrasound until about 25 weeks. Matt and Dale (Jamie's husband) were playing it cool (even though I know Matt for sure wanted to scream or jump around the room or something). Jamie had started to feel a little sick and other symptoms of pregnancy so she was confident that everything was great and we would see 1 or even 2 healthy babies on the screen! From all of our disappointment in the past, I couldn't imagine how it could go well but was trying to be optimistic (don't freak out Jamie...stay cool...stay cool!)

They called all 4 of us back to the ultrasound room and waited for Dr. Lyles (best doctor in the world!!). He came in with his nurse and took a peek. Right away we saw 2 circles on the screen and I knew it was twins before he even said anything. Then, he said he saw 2 great heartbeats and I lost it. Not lost it in the crying uncontrollably sort of way, but lost it in the screaming, giving hugs, jumping up, and actin' a foo and down sort of way. I individually went to every person in the room and gave them a big bear hug all the while saying "I can't believe it!". Matt had the biggest smile I've ever seen on his face and also looked a bit stunned. He couldn't' even talk but I knew he was just as elated as I was! Jamie and Dale were basking in our glory and were just so happy that everything had worked out perfectly. Jamie pretty much expected twins or that it was a girl with the way she had been feeling since she never had morning sickness with her other babies, which were single boys. After we left the ultrasound room I carried on the excitement and went around to every staff person in the office shoving the ultrasound in their face and screaming "It's twins!". Looking back, I'm a bit embarrassed by my behavior but it gave Matt a good laugh and I just couldn't' help it.

We all called our parents and they were, of course, overjoyed and also a little in shock about the twins part. Matt's mom got the award for the "most shocked" reaction to the twins announcement. But, I had pretty much told her there was no way it was going to be twins so she was not prepared at all. Jamie and I went to lunch (at Jose Peppers - that detail is for all you Denver girls!) and I felt compelled to share with the waiter that Jamie was pregnant with twins.

It's amazing how this:

Went to this- two 5 month old babies totally mesmerised by a boxer dog:
...In ONE YEAR!! It's truly a miracle. Dreams can come true :)
